BIOGRAPHY

Hello! I’m an East Coast girl who grew up in Prince Edward Island and moved to Whitehorse after completing my Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in Psychology, in 2018. Before pursuing my Psychology degree, I attended Holland College in PEI and obtained a Human Services Diploma; enabling me to work with individuals of diverse abilities, disabilities, and their families. Currently, I am completing my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University and am excited to join the team at Ignite Counselling to hone my skills and help others.

All of my jobs have involved helping and working with people; one could say it is my passion! I have worked within the school system as a Workplace Assistant and Educational Assistant. I worked in group homes with youth and adults; at an institutional center as a developmental worker, and my all-time favourite role was as a respite worker. Working alongside families with children who have struggles, connecting with parents, siblings and the child brings me so much happiness.

Through my ongoing education, I have learned so many theories and approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Humanistic, Solution-Focused, and various assessment techniques and skills. However, the biggest takeaway is the therapeutic relationship (the relationship between you and me). It is my job to make sure that you feel comfortable, and I will do everything in my power to build a supportive professional relationship.

When I have some time for myself I love to spend it with people, friends, family and coworkers. I enjoy four-wheeling and camping; with a campfire of course!
