She/Her/Hers

I am a Registered Social Worker with the BC College of Social Workers and a Certified Play Therapist with the Canadian Association for Play Therapy. I completed my Master’s of Social Work at the University of Calgary, in 2008. My studies focused on psychosocial support and resilience building in northern Canada and southern Africa.
I am particularly passionate in supporting young people and their families. I have over 10 years experience in child and youth mental health in Whitehorse and communities across the Yukon, as well as in the Democratic Republic of Congo, England, Ghana and Zambia. My experience has been with governmental and non-governmental organizations alike, including the Yukon Government and Doctors without Borders.
Using a strengths-based, trauma-informed and integrative approach to therapy, I draw from a number of counseling modalities. I have completed clinical training in the following areas:
-Play Therapy
-Theraplay
-Sandtray Therapy
-Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT)
-Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
-Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR)
-Emotion Focused Family Therapy
-Solution-Focused Brief Therapy
I work with children and caregivers in a variety of areas and my specializations include:
-Emotional awareness and regulation
-Attachment
-Trauma
-Anxiety
-Parent-child relationship
Strengthening the parent-child connection can bring positive change to a child’s emotional and behavioural well-being. I encourage caregivers to be involved in their child’s counseling where possible, for more effective and long lasting therapeutic change.
I am bilingual and my services can be provided in English and French.
In my free time I enjoy spending time in the outdoors with my family.
