She/Her/Hers

Hey everyone! So a little bit about me goes like this: I have been working in the field since 2008 and youth are my passion! As much as working with youth is what I know best, I have tremendous experience working with adults as well. I graduated with my B.A. in Honours Psychology from Concordia University in Montreal and then moved on to complete my Masters (M.Ed) at the University of Ottawa in Educational Counselling. Most recently, I became a Canadian Certified Counsellor in January 2015 - which allows me to put the fancy 'C.C.C.' letters after my name.
Phew! Alright, my background thus far has been working in group homes with different levels of at-risk youth. I have also worked in alternative school settings for youth who didn't seem to fit in main-stream schools. For the last 10 years I have worked on a more individual basis with youth and adults in Vancouver, Watson Lake and Whitehorse.
When I'm not sitting on couches or chairs, I also spend a lot of my time traveling the north, facilitating a two day workshop: ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training). I have helped to train over 500 people in the Yukon and have traveled to most all of our rural communities. I also deliver a workshop called SafeTALK which is a 3hr introduction to become a suicide alert helper.
Recently, a fair amount of my time has also been working within the Transgender, Two-Spirit and Non-Binary community; focusing on group work and also providing support and advocacy to policy change conversations.
When my day is done at the office, you'll likely find me chasing a 2yr old around outside, out on a hike with my 11 year old husky mix pup, Colby, or sitting on my deck in the sun enjoying delicious food courtesy of my chef hubby!
